Plot / Synopsis
Alright, so Baby John is all about Satya Verma, a cop who just wants a quiet life in Kerala with his little daughter, Khushi. But, of course, life has other plans. A brutal sex-trafficking gang comes knocking, forcing Satya to dig up a past he thought was buried. Turns out, he’s not just a cop—he’s got a serious history that comes back with a vengeance. And just like that, we see him transform into ‘Baby John,’ a man on a mission to take down the bad guys and keep his family safe.
Honestly, this setup gave me some Vikram (2022) vibes—except with Varun Dhawan stepping into an intense action role for the first time. And if you’ve seen the Tamil movie Theri (which this is a remake of), you’ll have a good idea of what’s coming.

My Take on Baby John
Let’s get real—when I first heard about Baby John, I was skeptical. Varun Dhawan as a full-blown action hero? I mean, he’s great at comedy (Judwaa 2, Badrinath Ki Dulhania), but seeing him in a gritty role felt like a leap. Surprisingly, he actually pulls it off. He’s got the intensity, the action sequences are well-choreographed, and you can tell he put in the work.
That being said, the movie itself is a mixed bag. The emotional moments hit hard, especially the father-daughter dynamic. There’s something about a tough guy softening up for his kid that always gets me (think Logan or even Taken). But then, there are the usual Bollywood tropes—over-the-top villains, dramatic flashbacks, and a romance track that feels… unnecessary.
The action, though? Solid. If you’re into fast-paced fight sequences, slow-motion hero shots, and some good ol’ fashioned revenge, you’ll have a good time.

Should You Watch It?
If you love action-packed revenge dramas, this one’s for you. If you’re a Varun Dhawan fan, you’ll appreciate seeing him in a different avatar.
