📖 Plot / Synopsis
Okay, so Pardes is one of those classic Bollywood dramas that’s all heart and full of feels. It’s about this rich NRI dad (Amrish Puri, playing the ultimate desi dad abroad) who wants his spoiled Americanized son to marry a “sanskari” Indian girl. He finds Ganga — a sweet, grounded girl from a small town in India — and sets the wheels in motion. But here’s the twist: Shah Rukh Khan plays Arjun, the middleman sent to help set things up, and he’s the one who starts falling for her. Cue all the drama, beautiful songs, and some seriously intense emotional scenes.

💬 My Thoughts (and a little nostalgia)
I remember watching this as a kid, sitting on the floor with my cousins, totally hooked on the soundtrack (seriously, Yeh Dil Deewana was the jam). Shah Rukh Khan wasn’t just acting — he was Arjun. That mix of charm, mischief, and emotional depth? Classic SRK.
The story hits differently if you’ve ever felt caught between two worlds — like growing up in one place but holding on to another. It dives into that whole East vs. West thing — tradition vs. modern life — but doesn’t beat you over the head with it. Instead, it uses music, emotion, and a bit of melodrama (it’s a 90s Bollywood film, after all) to tell the story.

Also, shoutout to Mahima Chaudhry — she nailed her debut. She wasn’t just the “pretty love interest,” she brought a lot of strength to Ganga’s character.
Yes, some scenes are a little over the top, and the movie is long (as in, “you might need snacks halfway through” long), but it’s worth the ride.
👍 Watch It or Skip It?
Totally recommended if you’re in the mood for a good old-school Bollywood love story with soulful music, family drama, and Shah Rukh Khan doing what he does best. Not the kind of film you just watch — it’s the kind you feel. For more movie reviews and update visit filmyfly!
