Plot Synopsis:
Okay, so Selfie is one of those movies that really caught me off guard—in a good way. It follows Kanal (played by G. V. Prakash Kumar), an angry engineering student who’s basically stuck in a course he didn’t even want. His dad forced him into it for the “status,” and to make things worse, paid a shady broker to get him in. That moment hit home for me—I’ve seen friends go through the exact same pressure where their dreams are pushed aside just to fit into someone else’s version of success.
But Kanal doesn’t just sulk—he goes full detective mode and discovers this whole underworld of college admissions in Chennai. I’m talking backdoor deals, fake promises, the works. When he and his gang try their hand at getting someone a medical seat (for money, of course), things seem to go well… until the client backs out and all hell breaks loose.
Next thing you know, they’re being hunted down by thugs, their families are being dragged into the mess, and Kanal’s forced to grow up fast. Gautham Vasudev Menon plays the big boss of this whole illegal setup, and honestly? He nails it. Calm, classy, but terrifying.

Would I Recommend It?
✅ Definitely, yes.
If you’ve ever been frustrated by how messed up our education system is—or just love a solid thriller with some heart—this one’s worth watching. It’s sharp, raw, and surprisingly emotional. Plus, the music? Banger after banger, and yep, G. V. Prakash did the soundtrack himself.
I walked away from this one thinking about how many real stories are buried under “respectable” systems. And hey, it’s not preachy—it’s just real. for more movie updates and reviews visit filmyfly!
